“Smart Specialisation Process in the Western Balkans and Türkiye”

In 2019, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) launched the "Smart Specialisation Framework in the EU Enlargement and Neighbourhood Area" project to provide methodological guidance and support to the Western Balkan Countries and Türkiye on Smart Specialisation. Nearing the end of the project, on 27 November 2023, officials, experts, and policymakers from the EU Enlargement region gathered at an online event "Smart Specialisation Process in the Western Balkans and Türkiye: Main Achievements and Next Challenges Ahead" jointly organised by JRC and DG NEAR, to discuss the results achieved and the challenges ahead. The current situation in Türkiye and developments regarding the CEDIS3 project were presented in detail by Mr Mustafa Işık, Deputy Director General of Development Agencies.
