Within the scope of the “Capacity Enhancement for Development and Implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies in Türkiye's Regions (CEDIS3) Project”, a study visit to Brussels, Belgium was organised between 21 - 25 October. The visit was attended by the Directorate General of Development Agencies, representatives of development agencies and technical support team. During the visit, meetings were held with Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), European Commission Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), European Commission Directorate General for Research and Innovation (RTD), Joint Research Centre (JRC), Hub Brussels, EUROSTAT, European Committee of the Regions (CoR), VUB TechTransfer and EURADA.

Within the scope of the CEDIS3 Project, the “TR61 Regional Workshop”, hosted by the West Mediterranean Development Agency under the leadership of Antalya Deputy Governor Mr. Mustafa Hulusi ARAT, was successfully completed on 11 October 2024 in Antalya! In addition to West Mediterranean Development Agency, Eastern Anatolia Development Agency, Central Black Sea Development Agency, Governorship, Special Provincial Administration and universities attended the event and workshop where project activities and field visits to be organized in the region within the scope of the project were announced.

Spatial Analysis Training organized within the CEDIS3 Project has been successfully completed on 16-19 September 2024! Participants had the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge of how spatial analysis relates to regional development and smart specialisation. The training provided in-depth information on the data sources, methodologies, and tools necessary for spatial analysis, as well as on the use of spatial analysis techniques to collect, manage, and analyse data to generate actionable insights. Additionally, detailed information was provided on the integration of spatial analysis into smart specialisation mapping implementations.

Under the activities of “Capacity Enhancement for Development and Implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies in Türkiye’s Regions (CEDIS3) Project”, Isparta and Antalya provinces from TR61 Level 2 Region was visited on 27-28 August 2024. On the first day of the visit, the West Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA), Isparta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ITSO), and Isparta Technopark were visited in Isparta; on the second day, visits were made to the Antalya Organized Industrial Zone Directorate, the West Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute, and private sector entities in Antalya.

The Second Steering Committee Meeting of “Capacity Enhancement for Development and Implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies in Türkiye’s Regions (CEDIS3) Project” was held online on 14 August 2024. The meeting chaired by the Deputy Director General of Development Agencies Mr. Mustafa Işık was attended by representatives from the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye and the Contracting Authority, as well as the Secretaries General and experts from the West Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA), Ahiler Development Agency (AHIKA) and Eastern Anatolia Development Agency (DAKA).
