Study Visit to Spain

Within the scope of the "Capacity Enhancement for Development and Implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies in Türkiye’s Regions (CEDIS3)" Project, the first study visit was conducted in Seville, Spain on 3-8 March 2024.

The study visit was attended by Deputy Director General of Development Agencies Mr Mustafa Işık, Deputy Director General of Development Agencies Mr Mustafa Caner Meydan, Head of the Department of Monitoring, Evaluation and Analysis Mr Ahmet Alıcı, representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Technology and development agencies.

During the visit hosted by the European Union Joint Research Centre in Seville, consultations were held to benefit from the European Commission's experience on smart specialisation and to evaluate collaboration opportunities in the process of developing smart specialisation strategies in Türkiye’s regions. The programme also included meetings with the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Andalucía Agrotech European Digital Innovation Hub at the University of Seville, the Advanced Centre for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC), and the campuses of Ulysseus European University. The main agenda of these meetings was the best practices for regional development and experience exchange regarding the development and implementation processes of smart specialisation strategies.
