Study Visit to Italy

Within the scope of the "Capacity Enhancement for Development and Implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies in Türkiye's Regions (CEDIS3)" study visit was conducted to the Emilia-Romagna Region in Italy on 10-14 June 2024.

Amidst the study visit, which aims to facilitate the integration of regional actors to the international cooperation networks and provide contribution to the development process of innovative strategies, the Turkish delegation visited relevant institutions and organisations in Emilia-Romagna Region.

A Narrative of Inspiration:

The Emilia-Romagna Region has accomplished significant milestones in fostering innovation and research after the enactment of the Smart Specialisation Strategy in 2016.

 Milestones:

The Smart Specialisation Strategy designated essential priorities and measures to boost economic growth and competitiveness of the region's. The strategy consantrated on both existing economic sectors and potential growth areas. A number of successful projects have been implemented under the Strategy, delivering significant economic, social and environmental benefits at both regional and national levels.

 Vision:

The current 2021-2027 strategy, tailored with the participation of public actors, private actors, academia and civil society, aims to address regional challenges, risks and threats, and to enhance competitiveness. Within the scope of the strategy, 15 priority areas have been identified, focusing on 8 strategic areas of expertise: agri-food, building and construction, mechatronics and automotive, health and wellness ındustries, cultural and creative industries, innovation in services, digital and logistics, energy and sustainable development, tourism.
